THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE WHO SERVE
AND THOSE WHO DON'T IS OBEDIENCE.
Here at Immanuel, there is a growing population of Christians in life's later seasons. There is no question that getting older not only has its physical challenges, but also its mental and emotional challenges. However, just because we're growing older, does not mean we've outgrown our usefulness in Christ's service. In fact, our gifts and life experience have us specially poised to make a difference for God's kingdom.
Consider what the Bible says in Titus 2:1-8 about getting involved in an inter-generational ministry. Clearly senior men and women have so much to offer to the generations following them.
The following are on-going and seasonal opportunities for ministry involvement. Prayerfully consider your role in any of these areas.
Homebound Ministry Taking the Lord’s Supper to our senior adults who are Homebound, Wednesday mornings as scheduled. Call Al or Teresa at the Church Office if you would like to join a team – husband and wife teams are needed.
Joyful Singers Our Senior Adult Choir practices every Monday from 10:30am-11:30am, September through May, in the Choir Room. It's a special time together for singing and fellowship designed for ages 55 plus. We take bus trips to local places to sing in the spring and at Christmas time, plus performances in our Sanctuary. Call the Church Office for practice dates and join in the fun!
Vacation Bible School This is a month long commitment each summer. Planning meetings are Monday and Thursday the month of June. VBS is June 19-23. Stay all week or work only the days you are available. We look for volunteers in every capacity: teaching, teaching assistant, hospitality, security, registration, recreation, worship, etc. Watch for the announcements in the bulletin beginning in May to find out how to volunteer or contact Teresa Barrett in the Church Office.
Highland Community July 4th Fireworks Spectacular This event requires many individuals who are willing to set up, clean up and tear down. Watch for the announcements in the bulletin in June to find out how to volunteer or contact Teresa Barrett in the Church Office.
Harvest Festival Greeters This is a once a year commitment on October 31. Our Senior Adults are key people in greeting our Community. All you need to do is hand out a starter bag of candy and greet visitors with a smile! Contact Teresa Barrett in the Church Office to volunteer for one hour.
